The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 And the mountains as stakes? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and made the night a covering, 10 And have made the day for livelihood. 11 and built above you seven strong firmaments, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day that the Trumpet shall be sounded, and ye shall come forth in crowds; 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Finding neither sleep nor any thing to drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
