People of Hijr rejected the Messengers. 80 And We gave them Our communications, but they turned aside from them; 81 They hewed their dwellings out of the mountains in safety. 82 But they were seized by the mighty blast towards the morning; 83 and of no avail to them was all [the power] that they had acquired. 84 AND [remember:] We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them without [an inner] truth; but, behold, the Hour [when this will become clear to all] is indeed yet to come. Hence, forgive [men's failings] with fair forbearance: 85 For verily it is thy Lord who is the Master-Creator, knowing all things. 86 And indeed We have given you seven verses that are repeated, and the great Qur’an. 87 Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers. 88 And proclaim, “Indeed I, yes I, am the clear Herald of Warning.” 89 Just as We had revealed [scriptures] to the separators 90 [and] who [now] declare this Qur'an to be [a tissue of] falsehoods! 91 Therefore, by your Lord, We shall question every one of them. 92 about whatever they had been doing! 93 Proclaim openly what you are commanded, and avoid the polytheists. 94 Indeed We suffice you against these mockers. 95 who assert that there are, side by side with God, other divine powers as well: for in time they will come to know [the truth]. 96 And surely We know that your breast straitens at what they say; 97 So exalt [Allah] with praise of your Lord and be of those who prostrate [to Him]. 98 And keep worshipping your Lord, till death* comes to you. (* The certainty.) 99
