The 'Ad (people) rejected the messengers. 123 When their brother Hud said to them: Will you not guard (against evil)? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 "So fear Allah and obey me. 126 And I do not ask you any reward for it; surely my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 and raise strong mansions as if you were to live forever? 129 And when you strike, you strike as tyrants. 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 "And keep your duty to Him, fear Him Who has aided you with all (good things) that you know. 132 Provided you with grazing livestock and children 133 "And Gardens and Springs. 134 I am afraid that you will suffer the torment of the Day of Judgment." 135 They said: It is all one to us whether thou preachest or art not of those who preach; 136 “This is nothing but the tradition of former people.” 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they belied him, so We destroyed them. Surely, in that there is a sign; yet most of them do not believe. 139 Verily your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 140
