The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When there happeneth the Event. 1 There is no denying that it will befall - 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 On that day, you (mankind) will be divided into three groups: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 And the forerunners, the forerunners - 10 These are they who are drawn nigh (to Allah), 11 in the Gardens of Delight 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few from those of later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 like pearls preserved in their shells, 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 Nought but the saying: peace! peace! 26 The Companions of the Right 27 (They will be) among Lote-trees without thorns, 28 and serried acacias, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water flowing constantly, 31 and an abundance of fruits, 32 Neither out of reach nor yet forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 having resurrected them as virgins, 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
