I say the truth, and call the moon to witness, 32 by the retreating night, 33 and the dawn when it is white, 34 Verily, it (Hell, or their denial of the Prophet Muhammad SAW, or the Day of Resurrection) is but one of the greatest calamities. 35 A warning to mankind, 36 To him among you who wishes to go forward or remain behind. 37 Every soul is mortgaged for its own deeds. 38 Except the Companions of the Right Hand. 39 In Gardens, they seek answers, 40 concerning the sinners, 41 'What caused you to be thrust into the Scorching (Fire)' 42 They will say: "We were not of those who prayed; 43 And we have not been feeding the poor. 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until the Inevitable End [death] overtook us." 47 The intercession of their intercessors shall not benefit them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 like frightened donkeys 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 By no means! Aye, they fear not the Hereafter. 53 but this is truly a reminder. 54 Let him then who heeds remember it. 55 But they [who do not believe in the life to come] will not take it to heart unless God so wills: [for] He is the Fount of all God-consciousness, and the Fount of all forgiveness. 56
