The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Those who when they take the measure from others, take it in full! 2 but when they have to measure or weigh whatever they owe to others, give less than what is due! 3 Do they not know that they are bound to be raised from the dead 4 for a great Day, 5 a day when mankind shall stand before the Lord of all Being? 6 Indeed, the record of the disbelievers is in the lowest place, the Sijjeen. 7 What could let you know what the Sijjeen is! 8 A record [indelibly] inscribed! 9 Woe, on that Day, to those who reject, 10 Those that deny the Day of Judgment. 11 And none can deny it but the Transgressor beyond bounds the Sinner! 12 [and so,] whenever Our messages are conveyed to them, they but say: "Fables of ancient times!" 13 No indeed; but that they were earning has rusted upon their hearts. 14 Nay! Surely, they (evil-doers) will be veiled from seeing their Lord that Day. 15 Further, they will enter the Fire of Hell. 16 and who will be told, "This is what you had called a lie". 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 And what will make you know what 'Illiyyun is? 19 a written record, 20 To which bear witness those Nearest (to Allah). 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On thrones, watching. 23 thou knowest in their faces the radiancy of bliss 24 They will be given pure wine out of sealed containers 25 its seal is musk, for this let the competitors compete; 26 Blended with the water of Tasnim, (heights ultimate of evolution), 27 A fountain from which only they who are honoured drink. 28 Behold, the wicked were wont to laugh at the believers: 29 When passing by them, they would wink at one another 30 And whilst returning to their homes, they used to return rejoicing. 31 And when they saw them, they would say, "Indeed, those are truly lost." 32 And they were not sent to be keepers over them. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Have those who deny the truth [not] been paid back for their deeds? 36
