The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the heaven breaks apart. 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 And throws out whatever it contains and is empty, 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as for him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 And [by] the night and what it envelops 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 In fact the unbelievers disavow. 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore, give them the news of a painful punishment. 24 Except those who believe and do the right: For them there is reward unending. 25
