۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 Other than God," (the angels will be told), "then show them the way to Hell, 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will say: "No, you were the ones who would not believe. 29 we had no power over you; but you yourselves were a rebellious people. 30 But now our Lord's word has come true against us: truly, we are bound to taste [the punishment]. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 So indeed they, that Day, will be sharing in the punishment. 33 Verily We! in this wise We deal with the culprits. 34 For they, when they were told that there is no god except Allah, would puff themselves up with Pride, 35 And (they) said: "Are we going to abandon our aliha (gods) for the sake of a mad poet? 36 In fact, he had brought them the truth and had acknowledged the Messengers (who were sent before him). 37 Indeed, you [disbelievers] will be tasters of the painful punishment, 38 although you shall not be requited for aught but what you were wont to do. 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 shall have a known provision -- 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 in the Gardens of Delight, 43 upon couches, set face to face, 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 white, a delight to the drinkers, 46 Neither does it intoxicate, nor give a headache. 47 And with them maidens of modest look and large lustrous eyes, 48 Like sheltered eggs in a nest. 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 'Do you believe in the Day of Judgment? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 Then he will say, "Shall we look for him?" 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He says, 'By God, wellnigh thou didst destroy me; 56 "Had it not been for the Grace of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought forth (to Hell)." 57 What, do we then not die 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 This is indeed the mighty triumph, 60 For the like of this, then, let the workers work. 61 Is that (Paradise) better entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum (a horrible tree in Hell)? 62 which We have made as a torment for the unjust? 63 Lo! it is a tree that springeth in the heart of hell. 64 The shoots of its fruit-stalks are like the heads of devils: 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then on the top of that they will be given boiling water to drink so that it becomes a mixture (of boiling water and Zaqqum in their bellies). 67 Then indeed, their return will be to the Hellfire. 68 They found their father going astray 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 Thus, indeed, most of the people of old went astray before them, 71 And assuredly We sent among them warners. 72 Then see how was the end of those warned, 73 except the sincere worshipers of Allah. 74
