The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the heavens are rent asunder 1 And obeys its Lord and it must. 2 And when the earth is spread out 3 And shall cast forth that which is therein, and shall become empty. 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O human, you are working hard towards your Lord and you will meet Him. 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 He surely will receive an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for he who is given his record behind his back, 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And will go into the blazing fire. 12 Indeed, he had [once] been among his people in happiness; 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Instead, the unbelievers reject it, calling it a lie. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Except for those who believe and do righteous deeds. For them is a reward uninterrupted. 25
