Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 (Some) faces on that day shall be downcast, 2 Labouring, striving hard. 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food shall be theirs save bitter thorn, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 Many faces will be joyous on that day, 8 With their effort [they are] satisfied 9 In a lofty garden, 10 Where they hear no idle speech, 11 Therein is a fountain flowing, 12 Therein will be Thrones (of dignity), raised on high, 13 and prepared goblets, 14 and arranged cushions 15 and rich carpets levelled out. 16 What, do they not reflect upon how the camel was created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Therefore do remind, for you are only a reminder. 21 Thou art not one to manage (men's) affairs. 22 However, those who turn away and disbelieve, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 for behold, unto Us will be their return, 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
