۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 besides God, and show them the way of hell. 23 Stop them. They must be questioned." 24 [They will be asked], "What is [wrong] with you? Why do you not help each other?" 25 In fact, on that day they will be submissive. 26 They will turn to each other saying, 27 They said, “It is you who used to come to us from our right, in order to sway.” 28 Others will respond, "It was you who did not want to have any faith. 29 And we had over you no authority, but ye were a people exorbitant. 30 But now our Sustainer's word has come true against us [as well]: verily, we are bound to taste [the fruit of our sins]. 31 we perverted you, indeed, we were perverts' 32 So, they will become partners in punishment. 33 That is how We deal with sinners. 34 Truly, when it was said to them: La ilaha ill-Allah "(none has the right to be worshipped but Allah)," they puffed themselves up with pride (i.e. denied it). 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Nay, but he [whom you call a mad poet] has brought the truth; and he confirms the truth of [what the earlier of God's] message-bearers [have taught]. 37 You shall certainly taste the painful punishment: 38 And you will be requited nothing except for what you used to do (evil deeds, sins, and Allah's disobedience which you used to do in this world); 39 But the sincere servants of God 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 in the Gardens of Bliss, 43 Facing one another on thrones. 44 A bowl shall be made to go round them from water running out of springs, 45 Clear, delicious to drink, 46 There shall be no trouble in it, nor shall they be exhausted therewith. 47 And with them will be maidens (houris) who restrain their wide glances 48 (Pure) as they were hidden eggs (of the ostrich). 49 They will go to one another asking each other questions. 50 One of them says, 'I had a comrade 51 Who used to say: Art thou in truth of those who put faith (in his words)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 (A voice) said: "Would ye like to look down?" 54 He therefore looked down and saw him amidst the blazing fire. 55 He will say, "By God! You almost brought me to ruin! 56 And had it not been for the favour of my Lord, I too had been of those haled forth (to doom). 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 except for our first death? And shall we suffer no chastisement?'” 59 Most surely this is the mighty achievement. 60 For the like of this, then, let them labour, those who labour [in God's way]! 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 We have made this (tree) a trial for the evildoers. 63 Indeed it is a tree that sprouts from the base of hell. 64 Its spathes are like the heads of satans. 65 and they [who are lost in evil] are indeed bound to eat thereof, and to fill their bellies therewith. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 then their return is to Hell. 68 Surely they found their fathers going astray, 69 and they run in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 See how those who were warned met their end! 73 But not the chosen servants of Allah. 74
