He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (i.e. 'Abdullah bin Umm-Maktum, who came to the Prophet (Peace be upon him) while he was preaching to one or some of the Quraish chiefs). 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for he who thinks himself without need, 5 You pay full attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and who has fear of God, 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a drop of seed. He createth him and proportioneth him, 19 Then doth He make His path smooth for him; 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, (and how We provide it): 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 And Olives and Dates, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
