Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ The sure calamity! 1 What is the Sure Reality? 2 And what will make thee realise what the Sure Reality is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Ad denied that disaster would strike them: 4 Then the Thamud were destroyed by an awesome upheaval; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 Do you see any trace of them? 8 And there was Pharaoh, too, and [many of] those who lived before him, and the cities that were overthrown - [all of them] indulged in sin upon sin 9 They defied their Lord's messenger, so He seized them with an ever-tightening grip. 10 Lo! when the waters rose, We carried you upon the ship 11 making it a Reminder for you, for all attentive ears to retain. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 On that day shall the great event come to pass, 15 And the heaven will split asunder – so on that day it will be unstable. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 The Day whereon ye shall be mustered nothing hidden by you shall be hidden. 18 Then as to him who will be vouchsafed his book in his right hand, he shall say: here! read my book! 19 Verily I was sure that I should be a meeter of my reckoning. 20 So he will be in a pleasant life - 21 In high empyrean 22 Its [fruit] to be picked hanging near. 23 We shall say to him, "Eat and drink joyfully as a reward for the good deeds you did in days gone by." 24 And whoever is given his book in his left hand – he will say, “Alas, if only my account were not given to me!” 25 "And that I had never known, how my Account is? 26 “Alas, if only it had been just death.” 27 My wealth has not availed me. 28 "My power has perished from me!"... 29 It will be said, “Seize him, and shackle him.” 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 And then insert him in a chain whereof the length is seventy cubits. 32 Behold, he never believed in God the All-mighty, 33 nor would he urge the feeding of the poor. 34 “So he does not have any friend here this day.” 35 and the only food he has is filth 36 that none but sinners eat' 37
