He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 (He might) remember, and the Reminder might profit him. 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 By no means (should it be so)! For it is indeed a Message of instruction: 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 On honourable pages. 13 exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 and let the earth to break open 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olives and date-palms, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 and his mother and his father; 35 And his wife and his children, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 and covered by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
