'Ad (people) belied the Messengers. 123 When their fellowman Hud said to them, “Do you not fear?” 124 Verily I am unto you an apostle trusted. 125 “Therefore fear Allah and obey me.” 126 For this I ask of you no wage, for my wage falls only on the Lord of the Worlds. 127 Do you build monuments on every high place in vanity, 128 And seek ye out strongholds, that haply ye may last for ever? 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 So guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me 131 Keep your duty toward Him Who hath aided you with (the good things) that ye know, 132 succoured you with flocks and sons, 133 "And gardens and springs. 134 "Truly I fear for you the Penalty of a Great Day." 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This is naught but a custom of the ancients; 137 And we are not going to be punished. 138 So they cried him lies; then We destroyed them. Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 139 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 140
