Thorns (Al-Masad)
5 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Key (Al-Faatehah) before The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
DESTROYED WILL BE the hands of Abu Lahab, and he himself will perish. 1 His wealth did not avail him, nor his acquisitions. 2 [In the life to come] he shall have to endure a fire fiercely glowing; 3 And his wife too, who carries wood (thorns of Sadan which she used to put on the way of the Prophet (Peace be upon him), or use to slander him). 4 A rope made from palm fibre around her neck! 5
True are the words of God the Almighty.
