And, verily, Yunus (Jonah) was one of the Messengers. 139 When he ran away to a ship completely laden, 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 Had he not glorified God, 143 He would have stayed in its belly till the day the dead are raised. 144 ۞ Then We cast him on a bare desert whilst he was sick. 145 And We caused a tree of gourd to grow above him; 146 And We sent him (on a mission) to a hundred thousand (men) or more. 147 So they accepted faith – We therefore gave them usage for a while. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 Or created We the angels females while they were witnesses? 150 Verily, it is of their falsehood that they (Quraish pagans) say: 151 God hath begotten. Verily they are the liars. 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What aileth you? How judge ye? 154 Will you not then mind? 155 Or, is there for you a clear warranty 156 Bring your Book, if you are truthful. 157 They link Him with jinns by lineage, yet the jinns know they will be brought before Him. 158 God is too glorious for what they ascribe to Him 159 but not so the true servants of God, 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 except him who shall roast in Hell. 163 [The angels say], "There is not among us any except that he has a known position. 164 and, verily, we too are ranged [before Him in worship]; 165 we are they that give glory. 166 Even though they (unbelievers) say, 167 "If we had a reminder as had the men of old (before the coming of Prophet Muhammad SAW as a Messenger of Allah). 168 Surely we would have been the bondmen of God sincere. 169 They therefore denied it, so they will soon come to know. 170 And surely Our word has gone forth respecting Our servants, the messengers: 171 that they shall certainly be succoured, 172 and that Our hosts shall triumph. 173 So withdraw from them (O Muhammad) awhile, 174 and see, and soon they too shall see. 175 Do they really wish to hasten Our punishment? 176 Then, when it descends into their courtyard (i.e. near to them), evil will be the morning for those who had been warned! 177 And leave them for a time. 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Your Lord, the Lord of Honor, is too exalted to be considered as they describe Him. 180 Peace be upon the Messengers 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
