Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 and cast lots, and was of the rebutted, 141 Then the fish swallowed him, while he was blameworthy. 142 Now had he not been of those that glorify God, 143 He would have tarried in the belly thereof till the Day when they are raised. 144 ۞ We then put him ashore on a plain, and he was sick. 145 and We caused to grow over him a tree of gourds. 146 And We sent him towards a hundred thousand people, in fact more. 147 And they believed, so We gave them provision till a time. 148 Therefore ask them (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), whether the daughters are for your Lord and the sons for them! 149 Or that We created the angels female, and they are witnesses (thereto)? 150 Is it not a lie invented by them when they say: 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Has He chosen daughters above sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you decide? 154 Then will you not be reminded? 155 Or have ye a clear warrant? 156 Then produce your scripture, if you should be truthful. 157 And they have invented a kinship between Him and the jinns, but the jinns know well that they have indeed to appear (before Him) (i.e. they will be brought for accounts). 158 Purity is to Allah from the matters they fabricate. 159 But not so the servants of Allah, the purified ones. 160 So neither you nor those you worship 161 You cannot tempt [anyone] away from Him 162 except those who are doomed to enter hell. 163 Of us there is none but hath a station assigned. 164 And most surely we are they who draw themselves out in ranks, 165 "And we are verily those who declare (Allah's) glory!" 166 And indeed, the disbelievers used to say, 167 'If only we had a reminder from the ancients, 168 we would surely have been God's chosen servants," 169 But (now) they disbelieve in it, so they will come to know. 170 And indeed Our Word has already gone forth for Our bondmen who were sent. 171 That they verily would be made triumphant. 172 And most surely Our host alone shall be the victorious ones. 173 So turn thou aside from them for a season. 174 And watch them and they shall see (the punishment)! 175 Do they want to suffer Our torment immediately? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 So turn away from them for a while. 178 And (then) see, for they too shall see. 179 Too glorious is your Lord, the Lord of power, for what they ascribe to Him. 180 And peace be on the Messengers! 181 It is only God, the Lord of the Universe, who deserves all praise. 182
