He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As for him who is not in want of any thing, 5 you attended to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to thee striving earnestly, 8 And he feareth 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 noble, pious. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man therefore consider (the sources of) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and let the earth to break open 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 olives, dates, 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 and overcast with gloom: 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
