The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O you who covers himself [with a garment], 1 Arise and warn, 2 And your Lord do magnify, 3 And your garments purify! 4 and flee from the statues! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me with him whom I created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 And sons always present by his side, 13 and for whom I have smoothed the way (to power and riches), 14 Yet he desireth that I should give more. 15 Nay! He is forward unto Our signs; 16 Soon will I visit him with a mount of calamities! 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 So accursed be he, how evilly did he decide! 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then he looked, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I shall surely roast him in Sakar; 26 What will let you know what the Scorching is like! 27 Naught doth it permit to endure, and naught doth it leave alone!- 28 scorching the flesh; 29 Over it are Nineteen. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
