The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Proclaim! (or read!) in the name of thy Lord and Cherisher, Who created- 1 Createth man from a clot. 2 Recite: And thy Lord is the Most Generous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 Taught man that which he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Surely! Unto your Lord is the return. 8 Hast thou seen him who dissuadeth 9 a worshipper from praying? 10 Have you considered if he were on the right way, 11 or is concerned with God-consciousness? 12 Hast thou seen if he denieth (Allah's guidance) and is froward? 13 Does he not know that Allah does see? 14 By no means! If he desist not We shall seize and deal him by the forelock 15 A lying, sinful forelock! 16 So, let him call upon his way! 17 We will call the guards of Hell (to deal with him)! 18 No! Do not obey him. But prostrate and draw near [to Allah]. ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
