The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
O you (Prophet Muhamad), the cloaked, 1 Arise, and warn. 2 And proclaim the Purity of your Lord. 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of Allah's obedience as a favour to Allah). 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 When the Trumpet shall be sounded, 8 that very Day shall be a day of anguish, 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me (to deal) with him whom I created lonely, 11 and designated for him ample wealth, 12 And children to be by his side! 13 And made things easy for them. 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Nay! Verily, he has been stubborn and opposing Our Ayat (proofs, evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc.). 16 [and so] I shall constrain him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 He reflected and then hatched a scheme. 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he looked, 21 And frowned and puckered his brow, 22 Then turned he back, and grew stiff-necked. 23 And said: "This is nothing but the magic of old, 24 “This is nothing but the speech of a man.” 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 What do you think Hell-fire is? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 over it are nineteen. 30 And We have set none but angels as Guardians of the Fire; and We have fixed their number only as a trial for Unbelievers,- in order that the People of the Book may arrive at certainty, and the Believers may increase in Faith,- and that no doubts may be left for the People of the Book and the Believers, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the Unbelievers may say, "What symbol doth Allah intend by this?" Thus doth Allah leave to stray whom He pleaseth, and guide whom He pleaseth: and none can know the forces of thy Lord, except He and this is no other than a warning to mankind. 31
