Nay, and by the moon, 32 And [by] the night when it departs 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 hell is certainly the greatest calamity. 35 A warning unto humankind 36 whether one steps forward to embrace the faith or one turns away from it. 37 Each soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 except the people of the right hand 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 What has brought you into hell? 42 They shall say, 'We were not of those who prayed, and 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 And plunged into useless things with those who were obstinate, 45 And rejected the Day of Judgement as a lie 46 until death approached us". 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What is the matter with them that they turn away from this Reminder, 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 Is it that everyone of them wants to receive a heavenly book addressed to him personally? 52 This will certainly never be the case! In fact, they are not afraid of the Day of Judgment. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 But they will not benefit from it unless Allah Himself so wills. He is worthy to be feared; and He is worthy to forgive (those that fear Him). 56
