The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 And made the night a cover. 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with follage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water and benumbing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
