Whatever misfortune happens to you, is because on the things your hands have wrought, and for many (of them) He grants forgiveness. 30 You cannot frustrate Him in the earth; you have no protector nor helper against Allah. 31 Ships sailing in the ocean like ensigns are a sign of His. 32 If He wills, He can calm the winds so the ships remain still on the sea surface; indeed in this are signs for every greatly enduring, grateful person. 33 Or He could wreck them for what they have done; yet there is much that He pardons. 34 And that those who argue concerning Our revelations may know they have no refuge. 35 So whatever thing you have been given - it is but [for] enjoyment of the worldly life. But what is with Allah is better and more lasting for those who have believed and upon their Lord rely 36 and who shun the more heinous sins and abominations; and who, whenever they are moved to anger, readily forgive; 37 Who obey the commands of their Lord and fulfil their devotional obligations, whose affairs are settled by mutual consultation, who spend of what We have given them, 38 And those who take revenge when rebellion harms them. 39 The meed of an ill-deed is an ill the like thereunto; but whosoever pardoneth and amendeth, his hire is on Allah; verily He approveth not the wrong-doers. 40 If one avenges himself after he has been wronged, there is no way of blaming him. 41 Blame lies on those who oppress, and terrorise the land unjustly. For them there is painful punishment. 42 And indeed whoever patiently endured and forgave – then indeed these are acts of great courage. 43
