He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attended to him, 6 Though it is no blame to thee if he grow not (in spiritual understanding). 7 And as for him who cometh unto thee running, 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 Inscribed in Writs honoured, 13 lofty and pure, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm! He creates and proportions him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, and fresh fodder, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 But when there comes the Deafening Blast 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 and covered by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
