He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 To him do you address yourself. 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And hath fear, 9 From him you are distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and most virtuous. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Nay, but (man) has not done what He commanded him. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and herbage 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 fruits, and grass. 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 with darkness overspread: 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
