The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the heavens and that which comes in the night! 1 And what shall teach thee what is the night-star? 2 It is the star that shines with a piercing brightness -- 3 There is not a soul but over it is a keeper. 4 So let man observe from what he was created. 5 he was created of gushing water 6 issuing from between the backbone and the breastbone: 7 Verily, (Allah) is Able to bring him back (to life)! 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 Then he shall have no power nor any helper. 10 By the rotating heavens 11 and the earth, bursting forth with plants! 12 surely it is a decisive word; 13 and it is certainly not a jest. 14 Surely they will make a scheme, 15 And I secretly plan. 16 So leave the unbelievers to themselves; respite them awhile. 17
