The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
44 verses, revealed in Mecca after Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah) before The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
A beseecher besought the visitation of chastisement, 1 which will inevitably seize the disbelievers. 2 a chastisement from Allah, the Lord of the ascending steps, 3 all the angels and all the inspiration [ever granted to man] ascend unto Him [daily,] in a day the length whereof is [like] fifty thousand years… 4 Therefore, [O believer,] endure all adversity with goodly patience: 5 They see it [the Day of Judgement] to be far off, 6 but We see it is nigh. 7 On the day when the heaven shall be as molten copper 8 And the mountains will be like flakes of wool, 9 And no friend will ask concerning his friend. 10 Though they shall be made to see one another. Fain would the guilty ransom himself from the torment of that Day by his children. 11 And his spouse and his brother. 12 And his kindred who sheltered him, 13 And all that are in the earth, if then it might deliver him. 14 By no means! Verily it is a Flame. 15 will strip-off the flesh 16 It invites he who turned his back [on truth] and went away [from obedience] 17 who amassed and hoarded. 18 ۞ Lo! man was created anxious, 19 bewailing when evil befalls him, 20 and whenever good fortune comes to him, he grows niggardly. 21 Save worshippers. 22 Those who are constant at their prayer 23 And those in whose wealth exists a recognised right, 24 for those that ask and those that are dispossessed, 25 And those who believe the Day of Judgement to be true. 26 And those who fear the torment of their Lord, 27 Lo! the doom of their Lord is that before which none can feel secure - 28 And those who protect their private organs (from adultery). 29 Except with their wives and the (women slaves and captives) whom their right hands possess, for (then) they are not to be blamed, 30 But whosoever seeks beyond that, then it is those who are trespassers. 31 and those who are faithful to their trusts and to their pledges; 32 And those who are in their testimonies upright 33 And those who are attentive at their worship. 34 They will be honoured in the Gardens of Bliss. 35

There are memorization exercises for the original Arabic and English transliterated Arabic modes only. The English translation mode has no memorization exercises.
