And certainly We created man of clay that gives forth sound, of black mud fashioned in shape. 26 And the jinn did We create aforetime of essential fire. 27 And lo! Thy Sustainer said unto the angels: "Behold, I am about to create mortal man out of sounding clay, out of dark slime transmuted; 28 “Therefore when I have properly fashioned him and breathed into him a chosen noble soul from Myself, fall down before him in prostration.” 29 Thereupon the angels prostrated themselves, all of them together, 30 except Iblis; he refused to join those who prostrated. 31 The Lord inquired: "Iblis! What is the matter with you that you did not join those who prostrated?" 32 He answered, “It does not befit me to prostrate myself to a human whom You have created from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 The Lord said, "Your request is granted 37 Till the period of the time made known. 38 He said, “My Lord! I swear by the fact that You sent me astray, I shall distract them in the earth, and I shall lead all of them astray.” 39 Except Thy servants from among them, the devoted ones. 40 Allah said: "Here is the path that leads straight to Me. 41 "Certainly, you shall have no authority over My slaves, except those who follow you of the Ghawin (Mushrikun and those who go astray, criminals, polytheists, and evil-doers, etc.). 42 For whom the ordained place is surely Hell, 43 It has seven gates; for each gate is a portion assigned from them. 44
