۞ And when a description of the son of Marium is given, lo! your people raise a clamor thereat. 57 And they say: are our gods better, or is he? They mention him not to thee save for disputation. Aye! they are a people contentious. 58 but he was only a servant We favoured and made an example for the Children of Israel: 59 Had it been Our Will We would have made angels among you as successors in the earth. 60 And he ['Iesa (Jesus), son of Maryam (Mary)] shall be a known sign for (the coming of) the Hour (Day of Resurrection) [i.e. 'Iesa's (Jesus) descent on the earth]. Therefore have no doubt concerning it (i.e. the Day of Resurrection). And follow Me (Allah) (i.e. be obedient to Allah and do what He orders you to do, O mankind)! This is the Straight Path (of Islamic Monotheism, leading to Allah and to His Paradise). 61 And let not Satan bar you [from it] - for, verily, he is your open foe! 62 And when Isa came with evidences, he said: of a surety I have come unto you with wisdom, and to expound unto you some of that wherein ye differ; so fear Allah and obey me. 63 Indeed, Allah is my Lord and your Lord, therefore worship Him. That is the Straight Path' 64 But the denominations from among them differed [and separated], so woe to those who have wronged from the punishment of a painful Day. 65 Are they awaiting anything other than the Last Hour that it should suddenly come upon them without their even perceiving it? 66 Close friends will turn into enemies of one another on that Day, except the pious. 67
