The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
The Hour has drawn nigh: the moon is split. 1 And if they behold a sign, they turn away and say: magic continuous 2 And deny, and follow their own vain desires; but every matter is determined at its time. 3 They have certainly received the kind of news in which there is a lesson and strong words of wisdom, 4 a Wisdom far-reaching; yet warnings do not avail. 5 Therefore, (O Prophet,) turn away from them. The Day that the Caller will call (them) to a terrible affair, 6 they will come forth from their graves, with their eyes downcast, [swarming about] like locusts scattered [by the wind,] 7 Hastening towards the caller, the disbelievers will say: "This is a hard Day." 8 ۞ Before them Noah's people also gave the lie (to his Message). They rejected Our servant as a liar, saying: “He is a madman”; and he was rebuffed. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 So We opened the gates of heaven with water pouring forth. 11 And caused the earth to gush forth springs, so that the waters met for a predestined purpose. 12 And We carried him upon a thing of planks and nails, 13 which sailed on under Our supervision: a reward for him who had been shown ingratitude. 14 And verily We left it as a token; but is there any that remembereth? 15 Then how (terrible) was My Torment and My Warnings? 16 We have made the Koran easy to remember, is there any that will remember! 17 The people of `Ad rejected Our guidance. How terrible was My torment and the result (of their disregard) of My warning. 18 Verily, We sent against them a furious wind of harsh voice on a day of evil omen and continuous calamity. 19 and snatched people up as though they were stumps of uprooted palmtrees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
