(O Prophet), did you see him who turned away (from the Path of Allah), 33 And gave a little, then stopped (giving)? 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Or has he never yet been told of what was [said] in the revelations of Moses, 36 and about Abraham who fulfilled his duty (to God)? 37 That no burdened soul bears another soul’s burden? 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 and in the end he will be repaid for it in full; 41 And that to your Lord (Allah) is the End (Return of everything). 42 That it is He who makes you happy and morose, 43 And that it is He who causes death and gives life 44 It is He who has created spouses, male and female, 45 From a sperm-drop when it is emitted 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 And that He only is the Lord of the star Sirius? 49 And that it is He (Allah) Who destroyed the former 'Ad (people), 50 and Thamud tribes, 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 just as He thrust into perdition those cities that were overthrown 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 Then which of thy Lord's bounties disputest thou? 55 This is a (Prophet) like that of the ancient warners (Prophets). 56 The threatened Hour is nigh. 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Do you marvel then at this discourse (the Koran)? 59 And keep laughing and do not weep, 60 And ye are behaving proudly. 61 So bow yourselves before God, and serve Him! ۩ 62
