Nay; I swear by the moon, 32 By the receding night 33 And the daybreak when it shines; 34 it is one of the greatest trials, 35 a warning to humans, 36 A warning unto him of you who shall go forward or who chooseth to lag behind. 37 Every soul shall be pledged for what it has earned, 38 Except those on the Right, (i.e. the pious true believers of Islamic Monotheism); 39 who in their gardens will be enquiring 40 From the guilty. 41 What hath brought you to this burning? 42 They said, “We never used to offer the prayer.” 43 and we did not feed the needy. 44 and we indulged in vain talk with those who indulged in vain talk, 45 “And used to deny the Day of Justice.” 46 until the inevitable event overtook us.” 47 The mediation of no mediators will avail them then. 48 If such will be the Day of Judgment, what is the matter with them? Why do they run away from guidance, 49 as though they were terrified asses 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 In fact every one of them wants to be given open books (like the prophets). 52 Never! In fact they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay, verily. Lo! this is an Admonishment. 54 So whosoever willeth may heed it. 55 And they will not receive admonition unless Allah wills; He (Allah) is the One, deserving that mankind should be afraid of, and should be dutiful to Him, and should not take any Ilah (God) along with Him, and He is the One Who forgives (sins). 56
