Nay! By the moon 32 And by the Night as it retreateth, 33 and by the day when it dawns (with its radiance), 34 This is but one of the mighty (portents), 35 A warning to mankind,- 36 To any of you that chooses to go forward (by working righteous deeds), or to remain behind (by commiting sins), 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In gardens, they shall ask each other 40 Concerning the culprits: 41 "What led you into Hell Fire?" 42 They will answer: "We were not among those who prayed; 43 and neither did we feed the needy; 44 We plunged in with the plungers 45 and the Day of Judgment we were wont to call a lie 46 till the certainty (death) overtook us' 47 So no intercession will avail them. 48 What ails them, that they turn away from the Reminder, 49 As if they were asses taking fright 50 Fleeing from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No! But they do not fear the Hereafter. 53 Nay; this is an Exhortation. 54 So whosoever will (let him read it), and receive admonition (from it)! 55 And what advice will they heed, except if Allah wills? Only He deserves to be feared, and His only is the greatness of forgiving. 56
