The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the pluckers (the angels of death), violently plucking (the souls of the unbelievers), 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 Then outpace the others swiftly 4 by those that direct an affair! 5 On the Day the blast [of the Horn] will convulse [creation], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 [and] their eyes downcast... 9 (Now) they are saying: Shall we really be restored to our first state 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 But only, it will be a single Zajrah [shout (i.e., the second blowing of the Trumpet)]. (See Verse 37:19). 13 When, behold, they find themselves over the earth alive after their death, 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called him in the sacred valley of Tuwa, 16 saying, "Go to the Pharaoh. He has transgressed beyond all bounds. 17 and say to him: 'Are you willing to be purified, 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 and gathered his people together 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him in exemplary punishment for the last and the first [transgression]. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
