The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Woe to those who give short measure, 1 Who, when they take the measure (of their dues) from men take it fully, 2 Whereas when they give others after measuring or weighing, they give them less! 3 What! Do they not expect that they will be raised? 4 [and called to account] on an awesome Day 5 The Day when mankind will stand before the Lord of the Universe? 6 NAY, VERILY, the record of the wicked is indeed [set down] in a mode inescapable! 7 And what could make thee conceive what that that mode inescapable will be? 8 it is a written record. 9 Woe on that Day unto the beliers 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 Which none denieth save each criminal transgressor, 12 And when Our revelations are rehearsed unto him, he saith: fables of the ancients! 13 Not at all – but rather their earnings have heaped rust upon their hearts. 14 Nay, but surely on that day they will be covered from (the mercy of) their Lord. 15 Then they will indeed burn in Hell. 16 and it will be said to them: 'This is that which you belied' 17 No! Indeed, the record of the righteous is in 'illiyyun. 18 And what do you know what the Illiyoon are! 19 The record is a sealed text. 20 Which is witnessed by those brought near [to Allah]. 21 The righteous shall indeed be blissful, 22 On adorned couches, observing. 23 Thou wilt recognise in their faces the beaming brightness of Bliss. 24 They will be given to drink of pure wine, sealed. 25 The last thereof (that wine) will be the smell of musk, and for this let (all) those strive who want to strive (i.e. hasten earnestly to the obedience of Allah). 26 And its mixture is of Tasneem, 27 a spring, the nearest ones to God will drink from it. 28 Behold, the sinners were laughing at the believers, 29 and whenever they pass by them, they wink at one another [derisively]; 30 and, on returning to their people, boast about what they had done. 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 But they had not been sent as guardians over them. 33 Wherefore Today, those who believed at the infidels are laughing, 34 seated upon their couches, they are looking around. 35 Will not the Unbelievers have been paid back for what they did? 36
