The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is stretched, 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 And he shall go back to his people joyful. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 and roast at the Blaze. 12 Once, he lived joyfully among his family 13 Never thinking he will return. 14 Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him! 15 Oh, I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 or by the night in which things all come together to rest, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What is the matter with them, that they believe not? 20 Why, when the Quran is recited to them, do they not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 But those who have disbelieved deny, 22 and Allah knows very well what they gather. 23 So give them tidings of a painful doom, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
