The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 By the Day as it appears in glory; 2 and by the creation of the male and the female. 3 surely your striving is to diverse ends. 4 Yet he who gives to others and has fear, 5 And affirms goodness, 6 for him shall We make easy the path towards [ultimate] ease. 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And denies the best [reward], 9 We will ease him toward difficulty. 10 His riches will not save him when he perisheth. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And lo! unto Us belong the latter portion and the former. 13 and so I warn you of the raging fire 14 None except the most wicked will enter it. 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 The pious ones will be safe from this fire 17 And gives of his wealth that he may grow in virtue, 18 not as payment for any favours that he received, 19 But only the desire to seek for the Countenance of their Lord Most High; 20 And he is going to be satisfied. 21
God the Almighty always says the truth.
