The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 abasing, exalting, 3 This will happen when the earth is shaken, shaken 4 And the mountains will be crushed, blown to bits. 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 And those foremost [(in Islamic Faith of Monotheism and in performing righteous deeds) in the life of this world on the very first call for to embrace Islam,] will be foremost (in Paradise). 10 They shall be the nearest to God. 11 In gardens of bliss [will they dwell] 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 upon close-wrought couches 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 There shall go round unto them youths ever-young. 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 a drink by which their minds will not be clouded nor will it cause drunkenness; 19 and with fruit of any kind that they may choose, 20 And flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And [with them will be their] companions pure, most beautiful of eye, 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk nor any sinful speech. 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clustered plantains, 29 And shade extended 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty, 32 Neither intercepted nor forbidden, 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 We have formed them in a distinctive fashion, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 Lovers, friends, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
