The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 Which is bound to happen undoubtedly -- 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth is violently shaken 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And those on the left – how (wretched) are those on the left! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 These will be those nearest to Allah. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 and a few from later times. 14 (They will be) on thrones woven with gold and precious stones, 15 Reclining therein face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And fruit; that they may choose. 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 and fair maidens with large, lustrous eyes 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 As recompense for all they had done. 24 No empty talk will they hear there, nor any call to sin, 25 but only the tiding of inner soundness and peace. 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 and serried acacias, 29 And shade extended 30 Gushing water, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Whose season is not limited, nor (supply) forbidden, 33 And maidens incomparable. 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Devoted [to their husbands] and of equal age, 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
