The All Compassionate (Al-Rahman)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ The Beneficent (God) 1 Bestowed the Qur'an, 2 He created man 3 Has taught him the knowledge of the past and the future. 4 The sun and the moon run on their fixed courses (exactly) calculated with measured out stages for each (for reckoning, etc.). 5 And the grasses and the trees bow (to Him) in adoration. 6 He raised the heaven on high and set the scale. 7 In order that you may not corrupt the balance. 8 And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient. 9 And the earth He laid [out] for the creatures. 10 Therein are fruits and palm trees with sheaths, 11 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants. 12 Which, then, of your Sustainer's powers can you disavow? 13 He has created man from dry, rotten clay like the potter's, 14 and jinn from the many colored flames of fire. 15 How many favours of your Lord will you then deny? 16 (He is) Lord of the two Easts and Lord of the two Wests: 17 Then which of the favours of your Lord will ye deny? 18 He has let free the two bodies of flowing water, meeting together: 19 between them a barrier they do not overpass. 20 How many favours of your Lord will then both of you deny? -- 21 Pearls and corals come from both. 22 Then which of the Blessings of your Lord will you both (jinns and men) deny? 23 His too are the ships that run, raised up in the sea like land-marks. 24 Which, then, of the benefits of your Lord will ye twain belie? 25
