The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed, they shall know! 4 And once again: Nay, but in time they will come to understand! 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day for earning a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven strong ones, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 The heavens will have openings like doors. 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors, a place of return, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30
