The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 Then will no (soul) entertain falsehood concerning its coming. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth shall be shaken with a (severe) shaking, 4 and the mountains crumbled 5 and will scatter abroad into fine dust. 6 And you (all) will be in three kinds (i.e. separate groups). 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (as to) the companions of the left hand; how wretched are the companions of the left hand! 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 those are they brought near (to their Lord) 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A numerous company from among the first, 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets and ewers and a cup filled with a drink drawn from a running spring, 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 they will also go about them with the fruits of which they may choose, 20 And the flesh of fowls, any that they may desire. 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto preserved pearls. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 only the saying 'Peace, Peace!' 26 And those on the Right Hand, Who will be those on the Right Hand? 27 They will be in (the shade) of thornless lote 28 And acacia covered with heaps of bloom, 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 and waters gushing, 31 and fruits abounding 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And [upon] beds raised high. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
