The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and casts forth what is in it, and voids itself, 4 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] - 5 O man! verily thou art toiling toward thy Lord a painful toiling, and art about to meet Him. 6 Then as to him who shall be given his book in his right hand 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 and will [be able to] turn joyfully to those of his own kind. 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 for he never thought that he would have to return [to God]. 14 But no; (how would he not revert)? His Lord was ever watching him. 15 But nay! I swear by the sunset redness, 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 you shall proceed onwards from stage to stage. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and [that,] when the Qur'an is read unto them, they do not fall down in prostration? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 except for those who believe and do good deeds. Theirs shall be an unending reward. 25
