The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
O thou wrapped up (in the mantle)! 1 Rise up and warn! 2 Glorify your Lord, 3 Purify your inner self, 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And do not favour others in order to receive more. 6 And for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 That Day will be a difficult day 9 Far from easy for those without Faith. 10 Leave Me and him whom I created alone, 11 and whom I have granted abundant wealth 12 and sons standing before him, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 And yet he desires that I should add more! 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 So may he be destroyed [for] how he deliberated. 19 Again, ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and scowled. 22 Then he turned back and was arrogant 23 And said: This is naught else than magic from of old; 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 Soon will I cast him into Hell-Fire! 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It neither spares, nor releases, 28 It strips away the hide of man. 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have appointed none but the angels to be wardens of the Fire. And their number we have made only a trial for those who disbelieve, so that those who are vouchsafed the Book may be convinced, and that those who believe may increase in faith, and that those who are vouchsafed the Book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the infidels may say: what meaneth Allah by this description! In this wise Allah sendeth astray whomsoever He will, and guideth whomsoever He will. And none knoweth the hosts of thy Lord but He. And it is naught but an admonition unto man. 31
