The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O THOU [in thy solitude] enfolded! 1 Arise and warn 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 cleanse your clothes, 4 And all abomination shun! 5 And bestow not favour that thou mayest receive more. 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 For when the trumpet blows 8 that day will be a harsh day, 9 Dolorous for the unbelievers. 10 Leave him to Me whom I created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 And sons to be by his side!- 13 and made all things smooth for him; 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! Verily he hath been unto Our signs a foe. 16 Soon I shall mount him on Saood, the hill of fire. 17 He planned and plotted. 18 Perish he! How maliciously he devised! 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he thought; 21 then he frowned, and scowled, 22 and in the end he turns his back [on Our message,] and glories in his arrogance, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 this is nothing but the word of a mere mortal!” 25 Him shall I fling unto the burning. 26 and what will teach thee what is Sakar? 27 It neither leaves, nor spares. 28 Blackening the skins. 29 Over it are appointed nineteen. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
