The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 And placed a lamp therein brightly burning. 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 Thereby to produce grain and plant, 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven is opened and becometh as gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Therein taste they neither coolness nor (any) drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 And We have kept recorded everything in a Book, accounted for. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
