The Night (Al-Layl)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the night when it draws a veil, 1 And by oath of the day when it shines 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 Verily, [O men,] you aim at most divergent ends! 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and confirms the reward most fair, 6 So We will very soon provide him ease. 7 But he who does not give and is unconcerned, 8 and have no faith in receiving any reward (from God). 9 Surely We will ease his way unto adversity. 10 When he falls (into Hell), his wealth will not help him. 11 Surely, it is for Us to provide guidance -- 12 and to Us belong the Next Life and the present. 13 I therefore warn you of the fire that is ablaze. 14 where none shall burn except the most wicked, 15 Who gives the lie (to the truth) and turns (his) back. 16 But save him who fears 17 Who giveth away his substance that he may be cleansed, 18 and confers no favour on any man for recompense, 19 only seeking the Face of his Lord the Most High; 20 He surely will be pleased (when he will enter Paradise). 21
