[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 "So fear Allah, keep your duty to Him, and obey me. 163 And I do not ask you any reward for it; my reward is only with the Lord of the worlds; 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 And leave what your Lord has created for you as mates? But you are a people transgressing." 166 They said: If thou cease not, O Lot, thou wilt soon be of the outcast. 167 He said, “I am disgusted with your works.” 168 My Lord! deliver me and my household from that which they work. 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 Save an old woman among the lingerers. 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 And We rained on them a rain. And dreadful is the rain of those who have been warned. 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 175
